Dear Supporters of the Women, War and Peace in Africa Conference,

We are very pleased to share the news that the Women, War & Peace in Africa Conference last September has won an award from Sister Cities International as a project that promotes humanitarian efforts. The award will be given out at the annual meeting in San Jose, California, July 31 – Aug 2 2014.

A DVD that will show conference highlights is being finalized, and we will now be able to add this latest accomplishment. If you were not able to attend, or would like to review the program, please visit the conference web site, www.vcupeace.net. The site, like the conference, is intended to be an education resource.

The conference was co-sponsored by VCU in collaboration with Virginia Friends of Mali, the Richmond Sister Cities Commission, and Richmond Peace Education Center. It was partially funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s VCU French West Africa Project.
